Tour of the MACO – Collaborative Manufacture

MACO (Manufacture Collaborative) is a Geneva-based organisation dedicated to experimenting with new modes of production and consumption. Open since 2021, it brings together within a single ecosystem various stakeholders committed to reuse, repair, resource sharing, manufacturing and the passing on of skills.

Spanning over 1,200 m², MACO houses, in particular, a materials resource centre, manufacturing and repair workshops, a library of objects and tools, as well as spaces dedicated to creation and knowledge-sharing. The complementary nature of these activities enables the practical development of the principles of the circular economy, by promoting the reuse of materials, the sharing of equipment and the extension of objects’ lifespans.

Beyond its infrastructure, MACO serves as a genuine testing ground for the transition. Its project is based on four core values — sharing, empowerment, sustainability and creativity — and seeks to demonstrate that alternative models of production and consumption are possible at a local level.

This visit, which will be followed by a discussion, will therefore provide an opportunity to discover a practical project that brings together innovation, the circular economy and the green transition, whilst fostering dialogue between local stakeholders.
