2050Today is Geneva Climate Action Forum, where institutions of International Geneva – permanent missions, international organizations, academia, private and civil society entities – come together to tackle climate change by measurably reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. 2050Today promotes climate action by helping its members (over 60) to measure their emissions and implement shared and tailored solutions through thematic groups.

In this context, the successful candidate, under the supervision of the co-directors of 2050Today, will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating and monitoring these thematic groups on food, biodiversity, energy, waste management, mobility and sustainable IT.

He or she will help organise events, act as a liaison between members and external partners, and contribute to the development and implementation of members’ initiatives in the thematic areas identified by 2050Today.

The successful candidate, in the role of junior project manager, will be primarily responsible for organising, implementing and monitoring 2050Today’s climate action projects (particularly thematic groups), developed in close collaboration with the co-directors of 2050Today.

Responsibilities and activities

As a junior project officer, reporting to the relevant project officers, the successful candidate will carry out the following duties:

1) Organising thematic groups and events:

  • Assess the feasibility of projects in collaboration with the co-directors of 2050Today (budgets, implementation, available resources, deadlines, etc.)

2) Implement:

  • Manage all event logistics:
    • Registrations
    • Room and location booking
    • Equipment management
    • Home
  • Coordinate the organisation’s activities with the stakeholders of 2050Today
  • Prepare agendas in consultation with the co-directors and partners
  • Facilitate the thematic group sessions
  • Drafting meeting minutes
  • Create content for communications materials to promote events
  • Represent 2050Today in dealings with partners

3) Monitor:

  • Support and assist members in implementing climate action within the remit of the thematic groups
  • Develop and support funding applications for training courses and group projects for members’ benefit
  • Support collective projects

Other and/or one-off activities

– Support for specific projects developed by 2050Today (digital platforms, training modules, the 2050Today Awards)

– Willingness to assist one’s line managers with any specific tasks relating to events

Diplomas and required skills

  • Swiss Matura (University Entrance Qualification) supplemented by training in project management, or a qualification or experience deemed equivalent;
  • Professional experience in one of the fields related to climate action and sustainable development would be an advantage.

Specific knowledge relevant to the post

  • Proficiency in French and English (C1);
  • Organisational skills and proficiency in project management;
  • Experience in website maintenance (WordPress) and social media management and/or graphic design skills.
