The Energy Policy of the Canton of Geneva: progress and perspectives

Monday 23.06.2025, 11:00-12:00
European Broadcasting Union (EBU), L'Ancienne Route 17A,1218 Le Grand-Saconnex

2050Today invites you to an exclusive presentation by Mr Cédric Petitjean, Director of the Cantonal Energy Office (OCEN) to discover the major advancements and future outlook of the Canton of Geneva’s energy policy. This is a unique opportunity for stakeholders from International Geneva to engage in dialogue with local authorities on the shared challenges of the energy transition.

The Canton of Geneva is firmly committed to the path of a 2000-watt society, aligned with the Confederation’s climate goals. This policy is reflected in concrete and structural measures that are essential for managing and reducing energy demand, as well as for promoting renewable and local energy resources.

During this event, our keynote speaker will present three concrete initiatives led by OCEN:

  • Innovative agreements with the real estate sector: An unprecedented partnership between cantonal authorities and the private sector to accelerate the energy renovation of buildings.

  • Deployment of structural thermal networks: A shared solution at the regional level to replace fossil fuels with local renewable sources.

  • Renovation of the cantonal building stock: A necessary and ambitious transformation of public buildings to meet the authorities’ climate targets.

Deadline for registration: 17 June 2025

You are kindly requested to arrive by 10:45 at the latest to ensure a start on time. You will need to be registered with security and present a valid ID document.
