Climate Voices: Leading the Call for Change

15.03.2024, 14:00-17:00

Co-organized by 2050Today, Phenomenal Women Global and International Gender Champions

This event is supported by Open Geneva as part of the 2024 Open Innovation Festival.

Climate action at national and international levels in response to escalating consequences on the environment, health, and human rights is of paramount importance. In this perspective, it is recommended to act on key objectives to set the adequate framework in particular by recognising and elaborating on the role of youth, fostering empowerment, promoting diversity and inclusion, facilitating inter-disciplinary knowledge exchange, and catalysing action and collaboration.

The event proposes two Dialogue sessions gathering international experts, as well as youth, senior, and gender activists.

The sessions will touch on various aspects of the Sustainable Development Goals including SDGs 3, 5, 11, 12, 13, and 17.

Session 1: Climate Justice Dialogue will address local realities impacting civil society, seniors, women, and youth to challenge states, framing their climate action as human rights-based and seeking protection under humanitarian law.

Session 2: Gender Equality Dialogue will aim at acknowledging the achievements and challenges Women Leaders face. It will also seek to ensure increased action and involvement of women in decision-making processes and support female-led actions on climate change.
